His Beatitude, Mar Louis Sako, The Patriarch and Worldwide Leader of The Chaldean Church, visiting us from Iraq, spent two hours with the youth answering their questions, greeting them with his usual humble style and giving them his apostolic blessing. Our Patriarch encouraged the youth to consider vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Fr. Simon Esshaki introduced His Beatitude and told the youth how courageous our Patriarch is as he goes all over Iraq to defend the rights of all Christians and all persecuted minorities in Iraq ready to face martyrdom any second. The youth then had the opportunity to ask the Patriarch any questions they wanted and he answered them.
Accompanying our Patriarch was his right hand mans in Baghdad, H.E. Bishop Basilios Yaldo the Auxiliary Bishop of Baghdad. Also in attendance was the new Bishop of our diocese H.E. Bishop Emmanuel Shaleta, H.E. Bishop Shlemon Warduni, H.E. Bishop Bawai Soro, and other Priests of the parish.
Mar Basilios also addressed the youth and asked them to create bridges between them and the youth in Iraq. H.E. Bishop Basilios even told them a joke that filled the room with laughter.
The San Diego Youth were absolutely touched by their Father, Patriarch Mar Louis Sako who treated them with absolute fatherly love and was so happy and joyful to meet with them. They were truly touched by His Beatitude’s genuine, humble and overall loving presence.
