Father Albert Hisham – The Chaldean Patriarchate Media Administrator: “A Christian’s face is jovial not sad, always filled with the Canaanite woman’s trust in Jesus”, these are the words of His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Louis Raphael I Sako said today in his homily during the celebration of the Holy Mass at Saint Elijah Al-Hiri Church in Baghdad today, 6 October 2013, on the occasion of the annual church Festival.
His Beatitude spoke about God’s determination in our existence as Christians in this country, calling on the faithful to persevere and stay, putting full confidence in Lord Jesus on the example of the Canaanite women, her story is found in this Sunday’s Gospel, and not give in to frustration and depression. Patriarch Sako also stressed the importance of innovation on the example of Jesus Christ who renewed, and use the language known to everyone in prayer, and taking care of God’s Word in order to reach to the people so that they will not be forced to go to other churches.
Along with His Beatitude, Father Thomas Tammo, parish priest, and Father Albert Hisham, The Chaldean Patriarchate Media Administrator, participated in celebrating the Holy Mass.
After the Holy Mass, Patriarch Sako opened the Bazaar that was organized by fraternal group, namely “Love” – Caritas – thus supporting the Bazaar with His Beatitude’s visit.
