قداس إلهي بمناسبة الذكرى الحادية عشرة
لاستشهاد الأب رغيد والشمامسة وحيد وبسمان وغسان

أقام المعهد الكهنوتي الإيرلندي الحبري في روما يوم الأحد ٣ حزيزان ٢٠١٨ قداساً إلهياً بمناسبة الذكرى الحادية عشرة لاستشهاد الأب رغيد عزيز كني ورفاقه الشمامسة وحيد حنا ايشوع، وبسمان يوسف داود، وغسان عصام بيداويذ.
يُذكر بأن الأب رغيد كان طالباً في هذا المعهد الكهنوتي لمدة سبع سنوات (١٩٩٦ ـ ٢٠٠٣)، الخمسة الأولى منها كأكليريكي وسنتان ككاهن، وكان قد أقام قداسه الإلهي الأول في كنيسة المعهد ذاتها. وبعد تجديد تلك الكنيسة أراد المونسنيور ليّم بيركن أن يخلد ذكرى طالبه الشهيد رغيد بوضع صورته في فسيفساء الكنيسة، ذلك العمل الفني الرائع الذي قام به الفنان المشهور الأب روبنيك اليسوعي ومدرسته الفنية مركز أليتتي. كما وضع مونسنيور بيركن ذخيرتين للأب الشهيد رغيد في المذبح، الأولى هي الكتاب الطقسي الذي كان يستعمله في الصلوات طوال فترة التنشئة في ذلك المعهد، والثانية هي هورار كان يتوشح به خلال فترة خدمته الرعوية في الموصل.
ترأس القداس الإلهي الأب توماس نورّس المرشد الروحي للمعهد وشارك فيه الاباء الكهنة وطلاب المعهد والمؤمنين. كما شارك أيضاً في الذبيحة الإلهية الأب الفاضل فريد بطرس من ايبارشية حلب الكلدانية والطالبتين من ايبارشية أربيل الكلدانية الأنسة لينا جولينا والأنسة سانا روفو. وألقى الموعظة الأب ريبوار عوديش باسه، وذكر فيها بعض مراحل حياة الأب الشهيد رغيد وشهادته الإيمانية، خاصة طوال فترة خدمته ككاهن في أبرشية الموصل بالرغم من الاضطهادات والتفجيرات والتهديدات وحالات الخطف والقتل والوضعية المأسوية بشكل عام والتي كان الأب رغيد نفسه قد وصفها بأنها “أسوء من الجحيم”، إلى أن قدم حياته ذبيحة مع رفاقه الشمامسة الثلاثة وحيد وبسمان وغسان، من أجل إيمانهم ومحبتهم للرب ولكنيستهم وللشعب العراقي المتألم والجريح.
وبمناسبة إعلان الأب الشهيد رغيد ورفاقه الشمامسة وحيد وبسمان وغسان “خدام الله”، والبدء رسمياً بالخطوات المطلوبة بحسب القوانين الكنسية لتطويبهم، طلبنا من شقيقة الشماس الشهيد غسان بتزويدنا ببعض الصور لأخيها الشهيد وبكتابة شهادتها عن أخيها الشهيد غسان. فزودتنا مشكورة بالصور التي ننشرها أدناه، وكتبت عن أخيها الشماس الشهيد غسان وعن الشماس الشهيد وحيد. ونأمل الحصول على شهادات مماثلة من عوائل الشماسين الشهيدين وحيد وبسمان، ومن عوائل كل شهداء الايمان.
وهذا نص شهادة الأخت الفاضلة زينة عصام بيداويذ:
“ولد أخي الشماس غسان في ١٣ شباط ١٩٨٤ في الموصل. تعمذ في كاتدرائية الشهيدة مسكنته وكان قريبه الذي حمله يوم نيله سر المعموذية المقدس هو ابن خاله الأب الشهيد رغيد كني. ترعرع غسان في اروقة كنيسة الشهيدة مسكنته على يد الأم الفاضلة الراهبة الكلدانية عطور يوسف. وكان شماساً واحد اعضاء الجوق في تلك الكنيسة، وكان يشارك دوماً في نشاطات التعليم المسيحي والطقس الكلداني. وعندما انتقل الى كنيسة الروح القدس، استمر بنشاطات كنيسة الشهيدة مسكنته.
كان طالباً في الدورة اللاهوتية في الموصل، إلا أن استشهاده حال دون تكميل تلك الدورة. ولهذا قرر رئيس أساقفة الموصل للكلدان المطران الشهيد بولس فرج رحّو منحه شهادة تقديرية، جاء فيها ما يلي:
«تقرر منح الشهيد الطالب غسان عصام بيداويذ هذه الشهادة التقديرية، إذ كان في نيته إتمام هذه الدورة بكل نشاط وفرح لوعيه بفائدتها في حياته الروحية والإيمانية، إلا أن قساوة قلوب البشر حالت دون ذلك».
عرف عن غسان طيبة القلب والابتسامة الدائمة والحضور الجميل وتكوين الصداقات بسرعة لروحه الطيبة التي كان يلمسها كل من يتعرف عليه. وبسبب الظروف غير الطبيعية التي كانت تمر بها الموصل انتقل للعيش في كرمليس في منزل عائلة الاب الشهيد رغيد. وبالرغم من هذا، كان يحب التواجد والحضور في كنيسة الروح القدس في الموصل. وفي يوم الاحد ٣ حزيران ٢٠٠٧ اتصل بوالديه وأبلغهم انه سوف يأتي مع الشماس وحيد لحضور القداس في كنيسة الروح القدس، معللاً ذلك بأنه مشتاقٌ للمشاركة في القداس الإلهي في كنيسة الروح القدس، ولرؤية اصدقائه. ابدى والديه بعض الاعتراض، إلا أنهما بسبب طلبه الملح رضخا للأمر. وبالفعل حضر للقداس وتناول القربان المقدس من يد الأب الشهيد رغيد. وبعد انتهاء القداس خرج والتقى بأصدقائه وكان لقاء الوداع. وبعد خروجه مع الشماس وحيد وزوجته والاب رغيد وبسمان سمعنا صوت إطلاق النار، لأن المسافة ليست بالبعيدة عن منزل عائلة غسان. رف قلب والدته وقالت انهما رغيد وغسان، فأسرعت للاتصال بأبنها غسان، لكن رد عليها أحد الاشخاص بكلام غير مفهوم، ثم اقفل الهاتف. ولم تمضي إلا لحظات ليأتي أحد حراس الكنيسة برفقة أحد الشمامسة ليبلغنا بالخبر المفجع. وقد وصِف هذا الاحد بالأحد الغريب فعلاً، لأن كل واحد من الشهداء الاربعة ترك شيئاً طُبِعَ في الذاكرة لحد الآن. الفراق صعب والالم موجود، لكن التعزية هي بأنهم ينعمون بالحياة الأبدية”.
أما بخصوص الشماس الشهيد وحيد حنا ايشوع، فقد قدمت الأخت الفاضلة زينة عصام بيداويذ هذه الشهادة:
“عُرِفَ الشماس الشهيد وحيد بطيبة قلبه وتواضعه وجمال روحه. كان أحد شمامسة الروح القدس الغيارى والنشيطين. لم يكن يكل أو يمل عن اداء خدمته للكنسية. كان مقرباً من الاب الشهيد رغيد، ودائماً ينفذ أي عمل يطلب منه بروح مرحة وابتسامة جميلة. وعندما كان يتحدث مع أحد سواء كان كبيراً أو صغيراً كان يتحدث بتواضع كبير.
وكان يخدم الكنيسة من خلال الكثير من النشاطات. فقد كان أحد اعضاء مجلس خورنة الكنيسة، وكان متواجداً دواماً في صفوف تعليم الطقس الكلداني، وحاضراً أيضاً في أغلب النشاطات ومحاضرات للشبيبة واخوية عمل الروح القدس كان الأب رغيد بنفسه قد اختار اعضائها. أدى الشماس وحيد شهادته للمسيح حتى آخر لحظة من حياته، وأستشهد في سبيله مع رفاقه الشهداء الاب رغيد والشماسين بسمان وغسان، وذلك بعد مشاركته في الذبيحة الالهية يوم الأحد الذي وصف بيوم غريب، لأنه طبع في ذاكرتنا صوراً عن الشهداء الأربعة”.
وأدناه نص الموعظة بمناسبة الذكرى الحادية العشرة لاستشهاد “خدام الله” الأب رغيد ورفاقه الشمامسة وحيد وبسمان وغسان، وكلنا رجاءٌ بأن نُحيّ ذكراهم في العام القادم وهم طوباويين.
Dear brothers and sisters,
Today is the eleventh anniversary of the martyrdom of father Ragheed Ganni and his companions Waheed, Basmam and Ghassan. This anniversary is very special for two reasons: First, because it coincides with the Sunday of the feast of Corpus domini; Second, because it is the first anniversary of these martyrs after their cause of beatification was officially opened in Vatican.
It is also important to mention that this is the first cause of beatification in whole Chaldean Church history, since it was united with the Catholic Church in the 16 century. We are grateful for the contribution of the Pontifical Irish College to the progress of this cause.
It is fitting that on this feast of Corpus Christi we remember Ragheed and his companions. Our martyr is known as “Fr. Ragheed of the Eucharist”, because, the mystery of the Body and Blood of Christ was the source of his strength and that supports him in his battle against the powers of evil, until he made the supreme sacrifice of his own life. Fr. Ragheed has refused to stop saying the Holy Mass for his parish community. He has continued to do that, because he knew that it was of extreme importance for them, as it is for us and every catholic.
In 2005, Fr. Ragheed was invited to speak at the National Eucharistic Congress in Bari. He said: “Without the Sunday Eucharist we cannot live. In normal times, everything is taken for granted and we forget the greatest gift that is made to us. Ironically, it is thanks to terrorist violence that we have truly learnt that it is the Eucharist, the Christ who died and risen, that gives us life. And this allows us to resist and hope. There are days when I feel frail and full of fear. But when, holding the Eucharist, I say, ‘BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD, WHO TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD,’ I feel His strength in me. When I hold the Host in my hands, it is really He who is holding me and all of us, challenging the terrorists and keeping us all united in His boundless love.”
Ragheed teaches us how to be real disciples of Jesus and servants of the holy altar. Cardinal Filoni, who met Fr. Ragheed several times in Iraq during his service as Apostolic Nunzio, urges all seminarians and priests [in the preface of the book that I wrote on Fr. Ragheed] to know the story of Fr. Ragheed, by saying: “Every young man who feels called to the priesthood, every young priest who begins his pastoral ministry should know the short story of Father Ragheed Aziz Ganni … barbarically killed on 3 June 2007, when he was only 35 years old”.
Actually, from Fr. Ragheed we learn to be happy in our vocation, to have goals and dreams in our life and to fight to realize them. In fact, Ragheed has confronted many difficulties, challenges, wars, persecutions in his short life, but none of all that could ever stop him. On the contrary, all that made him a stronger and more determined person. We can easily notice that in all stages of his short life, almost 35 years.
First of all, during the terrible Iraq/Iran War, Ragheed managed to have a very high average in Secondary School, and that has allowed him to start his study in the faculty of engineering at the University of Mosul. Then he has graduated with success, during the first Gulf War.
During the embargo and big conflict between Iraq and the United States of America, he served his country as a soldier for almost two years.
Then he answered the call of God, to become a soldier of Christ. He was sent to Rome to begin another adventure during a very tough period for the people of Iraq, as the embargo was continuing and the conflict became more destructive each day. Ragheed, as usual, succeeded in the philosophy and theology studies, in addition to many pastoral, charitable and cultural activities. Then he obtained a licence in ecumenical theology from the Angelicum, in the year Iraq was invaded again in 2003.
In that same year, he decided to return to his country and his diocese of Mosul in a terrible period of war and persecution against Christians. His parish Church has been attacked by terrorist groups several times, like many other churches in Iraq. He personally received many death threats if he would not close his parish. Nevertheless, he has refused. In the end, he died to guarantee his parish community the possibility of receiving the body of Christ, source of the life. In fact, the secret of the strength of Fr. Ragheed was his faith and his prayers and especially the Eucharist. All that helped him to carry his cross every day and follow Jesus.
Regarding the Cross, Ragheed’s Archbishop, the martyr Paulos Faraj Rahho, wrote: “The Cross presence in our life does not surprise us; on the contrary, his absence worries us. As long as the Cross is present in our life, we can say: we are walking on the right way. The way of life and love, thus becoming, in imitation of Jesus, humble and obedient until the death, and the death on the Cross (Philippians, 2,8).
In Mosul, Father Ragheed continued to carry his cross and his service for the holy Altar and for his church and people, in spite of threats and persecution. He never stopped saying the Holy Mass, as if it was “his first Mass, his last Mass and his only Mass”, until the Sunday he sacrificed his body for the Body of the Lord and he mixed his blood with the blood of Christ.
So, let the witness and the martyrdom of Fr. Ragheed and his companions inspire us to be stronger and more determined in our battle against every evil that threatens our lives. Let nothing stop us in following Jesus and his teaching. Let us confront all challenges with the same smile of Fr. Ragheed, because we are aware that nothing is stronger than the love of Christ and nothing can separate us from him – Amen.
